Guns, Canada, And Clients!

Welcome to my monthly updates! I hope you can learn a little bit more about the work that I am doing while I study at Antioch University Seattle.

“Go beyond yourself rather than beyond others”

Next Steps:
I’m almost done with one-quarter of my second year!

Personal Life:
I am currently applying for a psychometrist position and am looking forward to gaining more assessment experience. The first interview went well and it feels like a good fit so far.

Although I don’t get to hang out with family and play board games, I found a community at a local cafe that does game nights every Sunday and Wednesday. I really do miss playing games and it’s been great joining this group for my own mental health.

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that I went to Canada for Thanksgiving this year! As many of you know, I personally dislike the holiday as someone with indigenous roots. So I decided to go to Canada with a friend who doesn’t celebrate the holiday for other reasons, and we got Chinese food. Apparently the border agent was very adament about us having guns and gave us a citizenship test lol. He asked us how many states were in the USA and why we didn’t choose to go to one of them instead of Canada. I should have told him, if he wants to pay for our tickets to Hawai’i we’ll turn right around. Seattle is only 2ish hours away from Canada, whereas Portland, Oregon is 3, so it makes sense to just leave to another country for fun.

Antioch University Seattle:
So this year started really slow but guess what?!?! I have clients and have been meeting with them on a weekly basis. It’s still a little scary and does not feel real, but apparently I’m doing it right so far.

I think my classes this quarter feel a little easy… Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice for them to feel that way, but I also am worried that at some point everything is going to exponentially get more difficult without a warning. But oh well, all I can do is prepare myself for it and study.

I don’t have a lot of updates this month! But just wanted to let you all know that I will be in Texas for a few days this upcoming winter break. I still have to meet clients over the break, so I won’t be able to stay out of town for longer than a week. Hopefully, I can swing by and say hi, if you haven’t already reached out.

I officially moved into my new apartment! I recently decided to live like a minamalist/essentialist and have slowly been getting rid of the things I don’t have a need for. I downsized to a smaller aprtment, because rent prices are alot higher this year, but because I’d rather spend more time outside and it gives me an excuse to go workout! I’ve lost over 10 pounds in the last month, so hoping to speed that up soon!

I created a 2nd video for my self-reflection assignment, so I hope you take the time to watch it! I’ll be working on a third video soon!

  1. Hey Brandon!
I just want you to know I am still keeping up with you and super proud of you, of course!
I wish I still lived in the Dallas area so we could grab a tea or coffee. Maybe I will be back in the near future and can catch you next time!
