At Attention – Preparing for a new chapter

Welcome to my monthly updates! I hope you can learn a little bit more about the work that I am doing while I study at Antioch University Seattle.

Next Steps:
Well I completed my third quarter of my second year, and now I am halfway through the summer quarter getting ready to start my third year! God it goes by so fast overall, but so slow in the moment.

Personal Life:
So I had the opportunity to go to Arizona for the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology and I got to finally meet my mentor who now lives up in Canada. I then traveled down to hang out with a friend who had recently gone through a break up. I’m excited cause I get to show her around Seattle for a few days this coming week. Finally, I had the opportunity to fly out to Washington D.C. for a week and I received training from both the Walter Reed National Medical Center and the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. Very busy dealing with a lot of stressful flights…. one of which lead to me having my first panic attack….

I redecorated my whole apartment and plan to take a picture sometime soon! I am currently looking forward to my cousin visiting Seattle in the next few weeks and am challenging myself to be more active and on top of my health for the remainder of this year!

I have been extremely exhausted and I cannot wait to finish up with classes next year!!! At this rate I either need to get adopted by a family out here, um find a roommate, or you know hopefully find a caring partner?!?!? I won’t lie cooking, washing the dishes, and doing all the chores on your own can get pretty exhausting, so it would be nice to have someone support me in doing that or taking turns doing it.

Antioch University Seattle:
I started my new practicum site! I started working at the Child and Family Behavioral Services unit at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. I get the opportunity to work with the families of service members at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). It’s a pretty tough site, but I am super excited to have my own office space!

Although, I will say I am not looking forward to doing 40 hours of work after graduation haha. All my classes this quarter are taught by adjunct family and have pretty interesting.

I also finally decided on my dissertation topic and will give you one hint: I will be traveling up to Alaska to do research a few times a year.
